Playa Blanca is named after its white sandy beaches and is situated at the southern tip of the canary island of Lanzarote and just 33 kilometres from Arrecife Airport.
Playa Blanca was once a little fishing village and today, a modern tourist resort has been created although much of the traditional character has been preserved, especially the fabulous 3 mile promenade that runs along the whole of the Playa Blanca coastline.

Playa Blanca is more sophisticated and tranquil than the other holiday resorts in Lanzarote yet there is an abundance of things to do and see. There are many beach front bars and restaurants to sit and sample the local cuisine whilst watching the world go by. Playa Blanca has a new and very cosmopolitan Marina Rubicon, where you will find plenty of atmosphere, designer boutiques, and attractions including ten pin bowling and a waterside market every Saturday and Wednesday morning.
Just on the edge of Playa Blanca, you can find some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands, namely Papagayo Beach. There are 5 sandy beaches dotted along the coastline of Playa Blanca. Playa Gorda, Playa Flamingo, Playa Blanca, Playa Dorada and the Playas de Papagayos. Watersports can be organised by the waterfront and there are plenty of boat trips to choose from if you wish to view the stunning coastline of Lanzarote.
There are two lovely childrens play areas in Playa Blanca. One near the church in the central village square and one in Los Colorades to the east of the resort.
Playa Blanca has a harbour where you can catch a ferry across to the neighbouring Canary Island of Fuerteventura.
Please see here for the bus route and timetable that runs daily through Playa Blanca, every 1/2 hour.
